about.
Molly Ringworm is a New Jersey-based indie rock band.
What started as front person Sarah Holt’s diaristic solo project in 2015 has since solidified into a full band effort with guitarist and cousin Johnny Zappas, bassist Andrew Simpson (Roach Coach) and drummer Michael Auble (Away Game). Holt and Zappas began playing music together at ages 11 and 14, and later met Simpson while attending a performing arts high school. After playing together for most of their musical lives, the comfort and chemistry between the band shines in their songwriting and live performances. Their sound has been described as "Breeders meets Liz Phair to go to lunch with Pavement," pairing nuanced storytelling with dynamic arrangements.
Full time DIY-ers, their 2019 EP, Good Ol Boys, was recorded and mixed by the band in their homes. The EP topped the local college radio charts and led them to open for Faye Webster that year. The band recently signed to Kidokoro Records. Their new extended play Seems was home-recorded and remotely co-produced with Kidokoro founder Oscar Suh-Rodriguez over the course of 2021. The band never played the songs together live until they finished recording. The 20-minute track list manages to deliver the quartet’s wagon-sized sound and their sharpest songwriting to date.
